How to write an explanation essay

Explanation essay is a composition which goal is to clear up the issue of the research, explain its essence, and provide answer to the question stated in the beginning.

The easiest way to organize your work once dealing with explanation essay is to ask yourself such questions as:

What or who?
Why?
What for?
How?
When?

The next step is a research which is almost always necessary to provide correct answer to all of the above questions. Once the research is done, it should be easy for you to think about structure of your essay. Choose information that is most important to reveal the essence of research topic, organize it in a logical way and start writing.

In the introductory paragraph inform your readers about the topic of your essay and briefly mention what you are going to explore, what reader should expect to know after he finishes reading through the whole essay. You can follow then to the main body where you should cover everything that has been mentioned in the introduction. Remember, that you should sound convincing, this is why it might be a good idea to back up your thoughts with authoritative sources. Your conclusion paragraph should summarize your thoughts and findings.

This is important for an explanatory essay to pay attention to the wholeness of information. Remember that your finding should flow logically from simpler to more complicated ones. Do not go too deep in your analysis. Focus on what you promised to explain in the introductory paragraph. Think about your audience and provide information that is interesting and understandable to your readers.
